Our Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide a world class modern skate environment for the youth in our regional communities that will serve as a safe, healthy and active space for them to practice and perform their recreational activity.
The Sun Prairie Skate Park, originally completed in October 1997, is located at 600 South Bird Street in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. You’ll find our all-concrete park located inside Sheehan Park right near the youth baseball complex. We are currently in the process of planning and raising funds for an addition that will add nearly 8,000 square feet to the existing park.
Sun Prairie Skate Park Committee
“A partnership between the Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department and a committee of passionate skaters, parents and friends.”
In order to get organized in our park addition project, the Sun Prairie Skate Park Committee was formed. Consisting of local volunteers, city leaders and youth, the committee plans on creating a revitalized skate park that will meet the needs of skateboarders, inline skaters, BMX bikes and more. You can follow the status of the project in a few ways: Twitter, this site and the graph over on the right, which will be updated with our current fundraising status.
Oh, and don’t worry skaters, you are in good hands! Austin Lipinski, a local Sun Prairie skater and Manager of Freedom Skate Shop is heading up the committee and making sure the end result works for everyone.
Proposed Design
At the September 19th skate competition the proposed design for the Sun Prairie Skate Park expansion was shown. Below is an image of the proposed design.
The new addition will be connected to the existing park by the ‘arms’ located on the right side of the image. More details to come!
